Excited as ever, with my heart racing fast, I moved my way up to the barricades in anticipation of Stephen Jerzak. The keyboardist, and good friend of Jerzak’s, Adam, came on with the world’s coolest neon-rainbow-zebra print keyboard I’ve ever seen. The drummer was adorable and very fun to watch.
As for Stephen, I couldn’t help but smile each time I glanced at him. Proudly singing along, I was having a great time and loving Stephen’s clean lyrics as I was watching him say them rather than just hearing; it made them that much more powerful. Performing ‘Cute’, ‘King’ and a great one man duet of “She Said” (singing both male and female verses) I heard what I had come to hear.
He was sincerely appreciative, a thrill to watch, and the teensy bit of fangirl that I do have in me most certainly came out as I was singing, clapping, smiling, and hopping along to his set. He was energetic, and it was contagious. I hated for it to end, it seemed too short. I’m jaded, so this is a big deal. There are times its hard to forget that we go for the music. I was reminded of this in Jerzaks set. He is fantastic and I’m so happy I was able to be there.
Needless to say, it was a great set he did and it’d be wonderful to see him again. He’s an outstanding performer, an adorable 18-year-old, and a role model. He’s definitely going places(that is if he gets better management). I hope he remains on this path there is a need in music today for people as purely simply talented as he.
