What the hell? Well, as Alyson reported recently, if Iman if ain’t in the mood hecan watch the Arcade Fire concert from Madison Square Garden right there on his PC.
Whats this world coming too? CMON everyone GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND SUPPORT MUSIC!
Arcade, who is doing a 2 night stint at the Garden will stream its second show live Aug. 5 at 10 p.m. Eastern on the Google Inc.-owned YouTube (note I gave Google some props there.. hey Googz!)
This venture along with Vevo is the start of a 5 installment series of streaming gigs. Streaming , leaking.. what the hell can we find some less vile terminology?
Apparently the thought process is that a since live performances are uploaded by fans from shaky hand held cameras and weird vantage angles, and receive great amounts of ‘hits’, the real deal in real time.. is a marketers dream.
Case in point was the December Alicia keys ‘simulcast’, yeah I like that terminology better. It was noted that when Jay Z came on stage episodes of ‘tweeting’ and social network updating spiked announcing the appearance. The power of the mouse and keyboard.
I have said that I really don’t dig the live recordings, I certainly don’t enjoy watching live concerts while sitting on my ass eating ramen.
You miss the experience and even an antisocial beast such as myself needs the 1-2-3-4-5 senses working overtime, to make it a real encounter.
There is no better feeling then stepping out of a dark club drenched in sweat and God knows what else and gulping in that first cool night air. Nothing.
