Camp Bisco Day 2: Best Days by Woody Fuller

What I didn’t know when I woke up last Friday morning, was that I was about to enjoy one of the best days of music of my entire life!
It all started with a very nice rack. Pardon me, I meant it all started with RAQ, a very nice psychedelic rock quartet from Vermont, very jambandish. Along with many other things, new bands really turn me on, so I was eager and excited as I was drawn into their whole sound starting with their first song. I heard them from our campsite and quickly rounded up my troops and ventured to the main stage.
Consisting of drums, keyboards, guitar and bass, RAQ has played together for about 10 years. This connectivity they possessed was the key to their extensive improvisational tangents , which myself and the rest of bisco was really diggin.

Next to hit up the main stage, one of my personal favs, Big Gigantic. This is another DJ/ live drum performance with a wicked twist, the DJ, Dominic Lalli, breaks into jamming, quite powerful, saxophone solos throughout most of their songs. I’v said it once, I’ve said it twice, I’ll say it again, I fucking looove the sax.
You should really hear this guy play, very talented musician. It adds a lot of soul to the already funky composition of drummer Jeremy Salken’s hot beats and Big Gigantic’s overall pulsating dance tunes. Which in the end of the equation is a really kick ass two-man sound machine. Very easy to dance and groove to, especially when you get caught in the trance of the sax.

They were originally only supposed to play for an hour, but because of Method Mans late arrival, we got an extra 45 minutes of the dynamic duo. YESS!! GO USS!!
For the first time all weekend, I put my media access pass to good use and Chris and I went backstage to try and catch Big Gigantic after their set. Ok, Ill stop lying for a second, we went back stage to try and somehow meet up with Method Man and any other members of WU that we could. Big Gigantic’s trailer just happened to be next store, ( Adventures from Wu Massacre/Method Man tribulations coming soon).
Dominic entered his trailer as we waited outside of Wu Massacre’s, I asked if he had a second for an interview, but as I noticed some hippie babes swarming around the artists area, I knew it was a lost cause.
He replied “Give me a second to get fresh, I’ll be back.”

“Yeah right”, I thought to myself. I love hippie babes just as much as the next bro, he didn’t have to lie to me
About 10 minutes later, he came out of his trailer and walked right up to us. As grateful as we were that he returned, he was equally as sorry that he couldn’t stay long, ( way more important things to do.) But luckily we snapped one pretty sweet pic before he dipped out.
What an awesome day it had been already.. and it was only 5 o’clock!!
