Nothing scientific about this -my most played songs released in 2010 I heard at home -more or less because, more or less, some of the obscurer stuff don’t have dates on em and some of the newer stuff could be listened to as often.
1. Theme From Cheers – Titus Andronicus – Can there be a better drinking song anywhere?? They bring in Dan McGee and give him a verse which must have been a blast: “I’m sick and tired of everyone in this town being so goddam uptight…”
2. I Am Not A Robot – Marina And the Diamonds – Couldn’t take the album but this song is such a 2. pretty wonder. “Better to be hated than to be loved for what you’renot.”
3. Happy Accident – Bright Eyes – The thing is this both a BE and not a BE song. There is nothing lo-fi left and I realize there wasn’t on Cassadega as well but still, unmistakably romantic bothersome Bright Eyes.
4. Only Ray Of Sunshine – Wesley Wolfe – Wolfe is such a consumate pop arranger, everything hooks you and moves you.
5. Open Book – Kevin Greenspon – Atmospheric ambient rock, it moves at the speed of the walk to her house.
6. Tragedy – Peter Wolfe and Shelby Lynne – It is all melody… all.
7. Horchata – Vampire Weekend – It’s the wordless chorus that kills me every day.
8. Can We Go Wrong – Hesta Prynn – Along with Quitzow, the sound of girls and their toys.
9. Rudeboyz – Rihanna , MIA, and Diplo – This mash up leaves everybody the better for it. Rihanna up, MIA backing.
10. Sink/Let It Sway – SSLYBY – The calling card of all pop bands: SSLYBY are consistent.
