Right about now it is always touch and go with Elton John on stage, last time round he promised a greatest hits package and it sucked what there was of it anyway since half of the sucker was that crap album with Leon Russel. What a ripoff. So why am I going again on Wednesday, December 4th, 2014: well, Elton is playing a lot off Goodbye Yellow Brick Road…
Tuesday – Mellowhigh – Gramercy Theater – Awesome at this very venue earlier this year, they now have their selfnamed album out at it is really awesome atmospheric heavy beats stuff
Tuesday – Michael Mcdonald – Apollo Theater – Oversinging near you this Christmas
Tuesday – Avril Lavigne – Highline Ballroom – Always 17
Wednesday – Phantogram – T5 – Electronic duo, had the best song on the Hunger Games album
Wednesday – King Krule – Webster Hall – A sort of modern Billy Bragg only more electronic
Wednesday – The Kominas – Piano -Muslim Pakistani punks who are lucky they aren’t bigger or they’d have a Fatwa on their ass.
Thursday – Annabella Lwin – Bowery Electric – The most interesting Bow Wow Wower by far
Friday – Darlene Love – BB Kings – Sang the best Christmas song of all time
Saturday – Luscious Jackson – Webster Hall – Their first album in years is excellent
Sunday – P!nk – Barclay Center – If you haven’t caught her on this tour, it is one of the best stadium shows around
Sunday – Eric Benet – BB Kings – A little too chick friendly on stage but old school r&b and not bad at all
