My Fave Songs July 2009 (Note The 9) by Iman Lababedi

It was one year ago today and this is what I was listening to..
1. Oh My God – Kaiser Chiefs – Sure I prefer the Lily Allen/Mark Ronson cover… but not by much.
2. Peacemaker – Green Day – And I was probably listening to KC waiting for GD at MSG.
3. Say Please – Monsters Of Folk – Listen, Conor was SLUMMING
4. Here Comes Your Man – Meaghan Smith – It is very interestingly wrong -it’s a definition of rock: a happy song about a sad (or apocalyptic) thing.
5. The One (feat Drake0 – Mary J. Blige – A great song on a lousy album with a terrible rap by Drake.
6. She Wolf – Shakira – And we were so excited for the album!
7. One of My Kind – Conor Oberst – This might be my obscurist Conor song -off that documentary. Fucking unreally melodic with just an acoustic guitar.

8. Woman Kind – Annie Lennox – Soul sister writes hooks on hooks on this stirrer.

9. Shots – LMFAO and Lil Jon – This is where LMFAO introduced themselves to the world at large

10. I Know You Want Me – Pitbull

11. The Way You Make Me Feel – Michael Jackson – We were still reeling from his death.

12. The Ugly Duckling – Danny Kaye – Think I had just seen the movie.

13 There’s A Guy Works Down The Chipshop Swears He’s Elvis – Kirsty MacColl – I was working ona remembrance of the great woman and knee deep in her catalogue.

14. Summertime Clothes – Animal Collective – Eclectic but catchy.

15. Surfin’ Away – the Vivian Girls – Just seen em at the Whitney

16. The Great Escape – Ian Hunter – Perfect chorus.

17. Never Can Say Goodbye (Stripped Remixes) – Michael Jackson – Pointless… no wait, the point was to make some money off his still warm body.
