If I died I would one of two sentences written on tombstone (Actually, I wanna be cremated, but the thought burns me up)
He Wrote
Or
He loved music.
Here is a quick guide to my life in music.
50s (I was born in 56) Arabic, show country
60s rock
70s soft rock and soul and punk
80s: here we go… too much to lay out but I think hard pop, Josef K, Orange Juice, Altered Images, stuff like that.
90’s All jazz and hip hop
00s: hip hop
10s Dance
That’s right folks… In the teens dance is what I listen to maybe 50% of the time. Not even hip hop (though the two sounds connect due to production and DJs) but dance.
So why?
Because it sounds great.
What I love about music more than even how it transmogrifies my deepest feelings (at my age I do it for myself) is how good it sounds. Robyn, MIA, LCD Soundsystem, David Guetta, god knows BEP, all these folks are such fun to listen to it . Even guys like Wesley Wolfe and Kevin Greenspon sound terrific.
To be honest, I love Titus Andronicus more than anybody else because he writes about losers and I am one.
BUT
They are the exception.
I let loose to Holy Ghost!!
And one day I will be day and what hurts about that? Think of all the music I’ll miss.
