I spent all weekend working on a short story called “Delirious”.
A sorta negative remembrance of my Mom.
I printed it and stuck it in a draw along with a million other stories.
Unless you write fiction you don’t know how fact and fantasy connect.
Brett Easton Ellis writes fiction and this one is KILLER.
A sequel to “Less Than Zero” it completely nails a vibe -of just plain horror. I think I love it so much because its mood, its lostness, matches mine.
Clay is back and finds himself caught up with a prostitution and drug ring . It starts bad and ends worse. I mean scary worse. Clay wrote and is co-producing a movie and a girl he gets unstuck on wants to use him to get a role in the movie.
You would think something like, and how big a deal can that be? The answer is very very very.
Alyson, one of our writers here, says my fiction reminds her of Ellis. I think she means neither of us does detail. Of all the things you get a handle on in Bedrooms, you don’t get a handle on what Rain looks like.
PS? I think Rain is actually a guy and Ellis switched sexes when he wrote it. For some bizarre reason I think it is about River Phoenix.
You know, whatever. I couldn’t stop reading it. A great achievement by a great writer. Read it.
