Quiet Company Get The Brooklyn Look right

The worst thing about living in New York is that it is impossible to be in two places at the same time because if I could have done that Friday night, October 19, guess where I would have been? Well, I was at Pearl Jam but I would also have been at the Big Picture Media Showcase at Sullivan Hall.

Instead I roped in my friend Jahn Xavier, ( yes the Bowerytones Jahn Xavier) to catch the show and report back to me. On Saturday evening I got a call. And, well, Amber Crisci of Big Picture had told me to watch for Quiet Company, that they were gonna be big and Jahn raved about them. A lively, exciting thriller of a band that Jahn said “Made my week for me.”

Jahn saw a total of five bands that night and mentioned Sheppard  and especially Nashville’s psychedelic freak outs Sol Cat as being pretty damn good as well but as for rock nyc interview subject Maria Taylor, though her voice was lovely and her songs were sweet, she failed to hold the audiences attention. Jahn’s friend thought the audience were rude, Jahn thought it was Maria’s job to get them to pay attention. And Jahn also singled out the guitarist as being especially good.

So a long night and no pictures because my good friends cell ran out of juice.  Still, since I can’t be in two places at once, I am lucky to have a man who knows more about music than I do to sub for me! Thanks Jahn, sorry Maria!
