All hail The New Queen of the Blues…

Ms. Shemekia Copeland !

The sound. The voice. The songs.

The soul. The “New Queen of the Blues” Shemekia Copeland recently scorched N.Y.C. during her week long stand at mid town’s Iridium club.

The native Newyorker (and Daughter of legendary Blues guitarist Johnny Copeland) was also inducted into the Newyork Blues Hall of fame during her recent run at Irridium, along with her longtime manager and songwriter John Hahn.

Backed by her top notch veteran band (featuring bassist/vocalist Kevin Jenkins, drummer Morris Roberts, guitarist Willie Scandlyn, and ,New york Blues hall of fame inductee, guitarist Arthur Neilson) Ms. Copeland’s high energy set included tunes from her 2013 Grammy Award nominated album “33 & 1/3” (“Lemon Pie” and “Somebody else’s Jesus”) as well as some of her classics (“Dirty Water”,”Never goin’ back to Memphis” and “Beat up Guitar”,which she also performed at the White House earlier this year with Gary Clark jr. at the request of President & Mrs. Obama).

Always the consumate performer, the community minded Ms. Copeland will be sharing her talents with our veterans at the Walter Reid Hospital in Washington,D.C. On October 26th.
