Steve Earle’s “Tom Ames Prayer”:What I’m Listening To Right This Minute by Woody Fuller

35 years ago, I was not only not alive yet, but not even a thought that Mother Earth herself could yet conceive. 35 years ago Bob Dylan, with help from Jacques Levy, wrote and recorded classic “Hurricane,” one of my favorite Dylan songs. A song which was the predominate one floating into my mind as I heard the song “Tom Ames’ Prayer” by Steve Earle.
Tom Ames’ Prayer, is actually about a quite guilty man, one outside the law who “took to robbin banks,” unlike Robin Carter who was the victim of a racist system. As a Dylan fan, I like the vibes of Earle’s song, but unfortunately have never heard of him. John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote one of the songs off his CD featuring “Tom Ames Prayer”, which gives him more credibility than he could almost ever make for himself.
He gets at least 1 thumb up in my book.
