Best Coast's "This Lonely Morning" Reviewed (Listen Here)

Miles Davis would’ve approved

I am not sure where Bethany Cosentino stands on the cool barometer nowadays but I have been a fan  for a while now, The Only Place cementing my love of her band Best Coast, and the once in a life time vision  of the band playing in a thunderstorm at Gov’s Ball earlier this year cementing my impression that Beth is really great. With a terse, “this really sucks” and ruminations about how she wished she was in California, I found her quite amusing. About the only thing I did find amusing that dreadful day.

Right now, Beth has a new EP on the verge of dropping and has given us, and by us I mean Rolling Stone, a sneak peak of the song here. It is called “This Lonely Morning” and it is more faded tapestries in the early morning stuff Best Coast do so well. Beth claimed to us (well, actually Rolling Stone again) “I wrote that song in literally five minutes, sitting in bed one morning, bored. That song kickstarted the writing for this record.”

Well… good, five minutes well spent. A lovely song by a great band who hate being rained on as much as I do.
