So sorry to hear the original starman (not to mention nappyman!!) Gary Shider died of cancer yesterday at the age of 56. He was the lead guitarist and musical director of George Clinton’s Parlianment/Funkadelia.
Anybody who has seen P-Funk on stage remembers his presense and his lead but if you wanna really hear Shider, he is all over the flat out masterpiece, one of funk’s greatest moments, touch stone for all of hip hop One Nation Under A Groove, the great guitarist will never be forgotten as long as somebody has something worth adding a sample to.
