Whatever the paradigm for future shock sales and marketing in popular music it is Derek Vincent Smith, the electronic vibe Pretty Lights band.
I havent heard em though in an earlier post today you will find an appreciation by Woody Fuller and other people I know who have heard em, love em loads.
Pretty Lights are releasing three Eps this year and they are all and always available for free on www.PrettyLightsMusic.com Ps: Half a million downloads and counting.
Seems like a waste, right? I would say he loses nothing by having somebody manufacturor and distribute his music but Smith doesn’t need to. Smith makes his bucks solely from touring and he makes tons of it -selling out everywhere.
This is a great idea and very, very difficult to pull off. To put it straight? He must be incredible.
