In May 2010, album sales hit its lowest in decades at 4.9M. In December 2000 it was at its highest: 45M.
What does this mean.
It means the album is over, the CD is over, it means it is time for Plan B, C and D.
Perhaps if itunes raised the praise of a popular song to $2, it would force people to buy albums but… I dunno, I think people would just go back to file sharing. The world isn’t ready for streaming (spotify still hsn’t happened).
I just don’t know how you can get people back to buying albums (or even going to record stores) after the ease and convenience of downloading songs.
