Seiji Ozawa Cancels Concerts Due To Illness by Helen Bach

Here is a cancellation I wont make fun of.

World renowned symphony conductor Seiji Ozawa has cancelled his Prague, Vienna , Berlin and Paris performances which were to be held in December. At present the December 15 Carnege Hall performance is still on.

74-year-old Vienna State Opera musical director has esophageal cancer.

I actually sported a Boston Symphony ‘conducted by Seiji Ozawa’ T-shirt til it was too threadbare to be worn, having seen him numerous times. I believe I saw him in Lenox MA at Tanglewood as well but I was quite young. A young Bach Family favorite, Ozawa got got raves from my folks.

We wish him the best.
