What is this shit?
Despite a sampler being available on Spotify, I invested $27 on a 53 song ITunes version of Volume 10 of Dylan’s Bootleg Series. Worth every penny no doubt, and I would have done it any way, but the least I expected was Greil Marcus 7000 word essay on the album included.
Not for nothing, but all MP3s are over priced by definition: there is no distribution and no manufacturing, why the hell is it so expensive? Where’s the beef? But, what the hell, it is Dylan so you suck it up and pay the price and I did so but not to include the liner notes? What a rip off.
The disrespect shown to music fans is mindbending. Why would they not provide liner notes? It is knocking on 30 bucks for songs that have been gathering dust for decades and you can’t be bothered to include Marcus’ response to his original review?
I want to know what he has to say but I bet we get the same crap we have been getting from everyone, Self Portrait did suck, Another Self Portrait doesn’t suck. Yeah, well I’ll debate that claim with anybody or at least I would if the arrogant bastards at SONY hadn’t ripped me off again. It is really outrageous. No I don’t expect Spotify to provide them but you better believe I expect Itunes to negotiate on their customers behalf. How can you request 50 cents a song for these songs and not give us the complete (or complete as you can) package.
What is this shit, indeed?
