Life Unheard – Johnny Cash – According to the Cash website: “With the tenth anniversary of the passing of Johnny Cash approaching, the new illustrated biography LIFE Unseen: Johnny Cash and accompanying music collection LIFE Unheard: Johnny Cash have been released today, August 13, to celebrate the life of the country legend“And it is never a problem to hear these songs again, but if I am stuck making it my ALBUM OF THE WEEK -especially when the choice of songs make no sense to me having not read the book (it’s all 60s, lotsa ‘don’t hate the longhairs’) it seems like the mid-60s. Note to “Life”, a live version is hard an unheard song – B+
Radiate – Tricia – Mediocre modern dance pop songs of faith? Sure, it’s not great, but absolutely, some allowances for subject matter! “Radiate” is great – B
Superorganism – Mickey Hart – This is Mickey Hart??? The former Dead drummer????? It sounds like ambient indie pitter patter sound modulated thingies – B
Evening & Morning – The Digital Age – David Crowder band alumni form a new band and it is superb by any standards, but my Christian rock standards it is a miracle of mood nusic and electronic sonic mind blowers. But quiet and subtle – B+
Into The Light – Matthew Light – Jesus Christ, are you kidding me? Better than your average singer-songwriter and better than your average mainstream rockers. Faint praise, true, but still praise – B-
Without You – Denise Gibbs – One more Christian album, this time R&B meets Gospel – C+
The Wild Feathers – The Wild Feathers – Warner Brothers sign a rock band and this is the band they choose… I guess it is harmless enough – C+
Between Two Evils – Aubrey O’Day – This is an iffy piece of EDM pop product. Nothing much but the beats keep coming – C
See You There – Glen Campbell – I don’t need these versions except for one thing, the guitar sound is really lovely, you can hear the strings vibrate on “Rhinestone Cowboy” and also, to be honest, as Julie Burchill once noted, I’d rather here a good song twice than a bad song once – B+
