Whats an “idol”
1.a. An image used as an object of worship.
b. A false god.
2. One that is adored, often blindly or excessively.
3. Something visible but without substance.
Last night was the season finale of American Idol. It came down to 2 people, that YOU America!” have voted to be YOUR next AMERICAN IDOL.
So as I sit here with it on the background I just saw one of MY idols, enter the suck heap as Alice Cooper joins the gang. God help me.
Barry Manilow, Usher X 2, Lady GaGa, Kesha, Harry Connick.. every single one of them fell a notch lower as they mentored this trash.
Watching it now it makes me just plain angry.
Is this really what we like? Is this where its at? Did you vote?
I have watched this season under duress. But I did it, nearly all, sorta. The same question arises in my head.
Why these people? Out of every contestant and applicant not 1 is memorable to me. I don’t care who wins. My greatest joy? It’s over
I come across a whole lot more closed minded than I am. I really do appreciate most forms of music. But what I couldn’t and can never tolerate is someone, even my “peers”, telling me whats best.
Its not MY top 40. This isn’t MY Idol.
But is it the majority? Is it really?
is this the best we got? Is this what you’re OK with? I’m not OK with it. I’m embarrassed by it.
I’m no uppity metro girl. I’m pretty average Id say. I’m not fringe by any means.
So if this horrifies me, how do you feel about it?

It never improved. I feel all the less intelligent for having watched it at all.
