You know those suntan beds?  Where you pay to get a tan which makes you look more orange than brown and kids shouldn’t use it but do because they can. I bet it ain’t that big in L.A> but over here, it isn’t the worst idea to get a covering before you sunbathe. Except, well maybe it isn’t such a great idea to sunbathe since the SUV lights from the sun can cause your DNA to mutate and you get melanoma, which is a discoloration of the skin that is cancerous and the survival rate is 75%.

Fashion designer Marc Jacobs doesn’t like it one bit and when you think of tanning salons you think more of women then men so it makes sense that when Marc chose to help raise awareness of the disease in his tee-shirt campaign he asked  the likes of Naomi Campbell, Kate Upton, and Heidi Klum, Eva Mendes , Hilary Swank, and  Victoria Beckham to pose naked for him. Conceptually, a knock off of PETA’s anti-Fur campaign, here the tag line is “Protect The Skin You’re In”.

Miley Cyrus has put down the pipe and pills and stripped out of what little she has on and posed for Jacobs. Marc considers Miley a  friend and it is really a great idea, I mean I’d do it if there was a market for it. Miley is well entrenched in the process of growing up right now, and seems to have made the leap of faith into post-teen if not quite adulthood.   “We Can’t Stop” has killed off Hannah Montana forever and now the future is hers… with or without her underwear on.

Purchase Miley’s “Protect the Skin You’re In” t-shirt at Marc Jacobs stores for $35. Sales from all the shirts in Jacobs’ campaign benefit the NYU Cancer Institute and NYU Langone Medical Center
