Slash Sees Nothing Good In The State Of The Art

Slash belabors the state of rock and roll. Slash? You are fucking joing me? This pampered preening prat tells us about the good old day. Where?  Use Your Illussions I or II?
Slash said: “: “I usually hate talking about the state of rock music, because there’s nothing positive to say about it. The whole vibe of new, exciting hard rock bands seems non-existent right now. I always say that the heavy metal spirit is alive and well and holding its own, but the broader rock ‘n’ roll thing of bands like AC/DC or Guns N’ Roses seems pretty slim. The rock ‘n’ roll spirit is extremely diminished. There’s no shortage of bands out there trying to make it, but they’re hard pressed to get a foot in the door. There’s no movement on the streets.”
Slash wouldn’t know the rock and roll spirit if it blew him in the men’s room of Lingerie Club. GNR were a great band because Axl Rose was a great front man. Slash is a good guitarist but so are loads of people.
When I read about Irving Azoff and Slash, they get something but they don’t get what Axl was after.
The indiffrence to Rose’s genius Chinese Democracy says more about what’s great and what’s terrible about rock and roll in the 21st Century than Slas’s self serving bullshit.
Compare the strident, overwhelmed, pverplayed, deeply eccentric and baffling Rose masterpiece to Slash and friends nothing very special rock and roll ego turn.
Chinese Democracy i an important and sometimes deeply satisfying car crash. If it fails, it fails in terms only Axl could raised. Slash is built to sell and doesn’t.After teens of years, Axl didn’t disapoint me and Slash didn’t disappoint me either, but only because I didn’t expect a damn thing.
As for the state of guitar bands? Guitar bands are fine. There are countless number of them, they play everywhere, some will become successful,  Christian Core at least will throw up a dozen a day.
And far from rock and roll or metal or anything being in bad shape, it is every single person in his own Sun Studios, and every day the reinvention of rock, pop tech, and every sand you can imagine in every possible conglomeration.
