Slow Focus – Fuck Buttons – Takes awhile to kick in but this is a sound flicked whirl of instruments dragging you howling into the usual soundscape which still somehow sounds unlike what you are expecting. Start with “Red Wing” which smacks of House buried in a tomb of whips slashing and synths sinking: it is going up and down and you can hook in so hard that it will pull you through the rest -ALBUM OF THE WEEK – B+

Home Life – Andrew Cedermark – You’ll dig “Canis Major” as a major indie folkie move but by the time you reach the obstreperous “Memories, Ah” and country “Men In Jail” it will have worn thin – B

Dark And Stormy – Hot Chip – They sound like all those EDM English pop bands who add a house beat to a new order riff, only slower and a little more boring than you’d expect. Still… from time to time they come up with a “Jelly Babies” and all is forgiven – B-

The Argument – Grant Hart – 20 tracks, this is a long long album of very mediocre alt rockers that well, that don’t actually rock. Plus, his voice is surprisingly weak – C

3.0 – Marc Anthony – After years and years in the wilderness, we’ve got Marc Anthony back on this set of Spanish Language pop triumphs. Back with Salsa, back with producer Sergio George, this is an absolute must hear if you love salsa; a major comeback and the single “Vivi Mi Vidre” -the pop version? I may have to shoehorn it into the top ten for 2013 – B+

Tracing Back Roots – We Came As Romans – Excellent metalcore band have nowhere to go but round and round and so they go round and round on their third album. For 40 minutes. Then they stop – B

Stars Dance – Selena Gomez – The Latest Disney girl; to grow up releases an average and more album of pop dqnce tracks, with some reggae thrown in here and a ballad thrown in there. It is missing a really big song but for what it is, it does the job – B-
