I first saw Beck back when Odelay dropped at the tiny Supper Club and I was blown away. I still was thinking of hime as the “Loser” guy, I don ‘t think I’d even heard this one of his three masterpieces (Mellow Gold and Sea Changes are the other two) but sometime around Midnite Vultures I mostly lost interest.
Last year I left Gov’s Ball before he hit the stage and this year, well this year, if I can get together the energy Saturday I’ll see him open for Dylan at Jone’s Beach and either way will be seeing him at 6pm at Le Poisson Rouge. I’m guessing he will hit the stage around 7pm and so I will miss some of Sinead singing Gospel but hopefully no more than half an hour.
Beck is releasing two albums this year and one of em is acoustic, so I am expecting some of the newbie and some oldies. If he plays “The Golden Age” I will be so very very happy, unlike the song.
