As non fans of Kings Of Leon go,  I am a pretty big fan. Whereas I think they suck live and couldn’t stomach that “Sex On Fire” song at any price, they are something of a reverse My Morning Jacket in my books.  Come Around Sunset might not have made my Best Of 2010 then, but now?  Now I am not quite so sure. It has worn well.

Plus three years is a long time, long enough to forgive them their trespasses and make me wonder if I didn’t underestimate them at MSG lo those many years ago.

Finally, and don’t kill me for this, but I think I got used to Caleb’s voice.

So I guess I was more open minded than I once was when it came to lister to “Supersoaker”, and, really thought if they could dare to rip off a Wavves song, who knows right? hey might have something.

And they do.

“Supersoaker” is a terrific guitar based power popper put through the KoL steamroller and it comes out exceedingly sprite and lively, with a lovely bass lick just below the service and a nice little hook “I don’t mind sentimental girls at times”. A smart little wannabe love song and Caleb is almost restrained in his performance. It sounds like indie rock, of a type. It revs and subsides like modern grunge. What can I say, I like it.
