Yes, I know all the complaints and I feel for you. I feel for me as well. I feel for both of us. But Stevie hasn’t done a full set since 2008’s “Autumn Nights” tour and I caught that at MSG and it was mindbogglingly great.
So I don’t care, well, I do care, but I can’t change that I won’t be able to see anything at the “Global Citizen Festival”, September 28th at Central Park’s Great Lawn. And I don’t care that the most boring woman on a planet that includes Chelsea Clinton, Alicia Keys will be there. And while I don’t mind checking out John Mayer and Kings Of Leon, if I was that bothered about KoL I would have blown off McCartney for them plus GNR at Gov’s Ball. But still, they don’t actually harm anything right? And if all I can see is hear Stevie, well, all Stevie can do is hear me so it all works out.
As for the Festival, it is a benefit: “The focus of this year’s festival is celebrating success and accelerating progress to a world without extreme poverty by 2030. Join us as we campaign to secure new commitments to health, education, women’s equality and global partnerships.” so OK, there will be lotsa lecturing as well. But put all that on one side and put Stevie Wonder on the other side, that’s all. Got it?
I am a futurist when it comes to music but no futurist in his right mind thinks we will get another Stevie Wonder. It absolutely has to be seen.
Incidentally, I know it says its free but you have to do three things to help the world, screw that, I paid $125 and got a ticket close to the stage. I recommend you do the same thing.
