Happy When it Rains

Connecticut’s finest alt rock, psychedelic DIY band Holiday Rain and two albums into their career and have posted a new song, the terrific guitar rumble pop move “Heavenly Dose” with a lovely harmonized chorus and a simple guitar strum after a plainly melodic keyb intro.Guitarist Chris Nessing is also (I guess) singing and he can get his voice pretty up there and “Heavenly Dose” is one of those songs you expect to break at the very least locally.

Rock NYC contributing editor Mike Nessing swears his brother Chris is a genius song writer even while apologizing for the hiss and bop on earlier recordings. they need no apology but like the creases in leather are a mark of authenticity and with a feedback as gorgeous as the one opening “Take My Brain” he might be right about the genius rap. Bill Totz and Mike Hard complete the trio. Imagine a Traffic without the acid and you get an idea of their sound. Actually, I wish they’d cut loose more often and they probably do live.

I hope to get the brothers Nessing on the record for Rock NYC once the new album is released and in the interim I can’t recommend Holiday Rain highly enough. Here is their myspace www.myspace.com/hrain
