Warped Tour 2013 was destined to be great. The first band I was stoked to see was Bring Me The Horizon. I’d only seen them live once before and that was at least two years ago. As a fan of their newest album, “Sempiternal”, I anticipated their set to be chock full of tunes off of that in order to promote it.
I was surprised to find out that BMTH was playing so early in the day. They were playing around 12 and I thought that they were the headliner; I was glad though because I had originally thought I would miss them entirely. As the crowd grew I found it harder and harder to believe so many people come to Warped Tour. This year the turnout was significantly more than last and that was nice to see. Bring Me The Horizon came up and they opened up with “Chelsea Smile”. This song off of “Suicide Season” was iconic for their career and Oli Sykes is better than ever, at the top of his game. He’s never been so full of true talent and potential.
The band was tight; all of their sounds were spot on and they did no wrong and I didn’t notice any slip-ups. Though it was an outdoor festival the sound was relatively decent probably because I was standing right in the barricade. I’m not a massive fan of that particular genre but I found myself captivated by Bring Me The Horizon. The crowd was huge and their energy was intense. There were circle pits and moshing, and that made the band push out more effort and everyone ended up drenched in sweat but still raging. I stayed for their entire set and didn’t find myself bored once. Their stage presence had an intensity they hadn’t had before and it was impressive.
They’d definitely grown more than I could’ve ever imagined. What a great way to start off the day.
