We got our first taste of the September release Mark Ronson album record Collector yesterday on Stereogum. It’s called “Circuit Breaker” and if I hadn’t read the Stereogum blurb this is what idda written: a not bad, nothing fancy, old time synth based heavy but not too heavy on the bass over a spaghetti western soundtrack. The video is a take off of old olds like Donkey Kong. Like I said, not bad but I expect better.
This is what Stereogum said: “Jordan Galland and Gary Breslin go Legend Of Zelda (circa NES) for album-track “Circuit Breaker,” with scratches and mixes from San Fran turntablist and jazz-fusion standby (see his work with Charlie Hunter and John Scofield) Teeko”
So I think it’s fair to say I don’t have the slightest idea what I’m talking about…
