I love when someone tells me to check out a band and I like them.
So lets talk about Faded Cadence.
This I lifted off of their myspace and it pretty much sets the tone of what you hear
“We’re Faded Cadence; just four teenagers from the Birmingham area with a passion for music.
We’re not setting out to get famous or make a load of money, and we’d like to think that you thought of us as your friends, not just a band that you can never have a conversation with.”
So with that home town banter you expect some high school band room nonsense right?
Me too!
But what I got instead was some of the prettiest music Ive heard in a great while. Its as if Snow Patrol and Twin Atlantic got married and had a family. Up beat but technically skilled, and STRINGS. The funnies thing is when our pal Finn suggested this band and I read the bio I thought they were from Birmingham Alabama. Uh, its Birmingham England. Either that or they changed their accents when we weren’t looking.
These kids have a depth I’ve not heard in awhile. I compare them to Snow Patrol out of lack of anything more similar.
Its soft, but its got that edge of discord. Not emo sappy bullshit but something more. Is it passion?
I see numerous reviews on their page but I refuse to read them. I don’t care about anyone’s opinion but my own, and they’re amazingly good.
There are only 3 songs on the site, “Fireworks” being my most favorite of the lot. Starting off with a crackly 33 rpm record sounding start. So retro but so timely. They may be teenagers but they have old souls.
This can be soundtrack music this can be rally music this can be an anthem.
I’m entranced and confused at the same time. As if this cant possibly be a hack group of kids with a myspace.
Heads up. They wont be for long, if this is their adolescent work. Good God what will they be like with a few years under their belts?
