To say we were excited to see WeCAR is a bit of an understatement. They’re one of those bands that you really have to see live to appreciate. Please don’t think that they don’t kick ass recorded, they do, but you cant feel them til you see them
As mentioned the venue literately holds 250, and covering the doors were signs saying sold out. Indeed it was. The air in that room was so stale so sweat saturated that it was more humid than a sauna but really no one cared.
Crammed onto the postage stamp sized stage were a band of men with a message of love and endurance. Delivered in tones and volumes suggesting just the opposite.
If you didn’t know they’re lyrics you would think them furious and dangerous. We Came As Romans don’t want to beat you down, they’re there to life you up.
239 men and boys were there to yell back lyrics til the veins popped out of their necks. Fist swinging conviction of a brothers in arms. Yet they’re not fighting, they’re uplifting and supporting. The ultimate in contradictions pulled off with style and the growl comes from the smile not a grimace.
Drummer Eric Choi, is a beast. Hardcore drumming should be an Olympic sport. That poor man was pinned to the wall the stage was so small and how he didn’t pass out from the heat is beyond me. Amazing.
Singers Dave and Kyle are a duet stapled together with amazing precision. Dave’s pretty boy look complimenting Kyles rougher bearded exterior made these two so lovable hardcore yin/yang
Josh our articulate and modest guitarist along with Andy Glass and Lou Cotton round out a virtual sport team of talent.
People tend to dump WeCar into the whole Underoath, Haste The Dave DWP scene. I personally find them to be much more unique.
I wish the room were bigger. The moshpit was the room at one point. We stepped aside and counted the war torn as they were tossed from the room. Bloody, sweat covered limping and smiling.
This was hardcore personified. Not that air brushed fake ass popcore being sold to the masses.
This was the real deal, and I loved every sweaty filthy moment of it.
Theyre not done yet, they start up a support tour with Asking Alexandria next.
Heres a tip guys, hanging out of your van half naked, could get you a ticket. Keep your numchucks in teh ride at all times
