So the first day of living with the new Hold Steady album and a coupla things come to mind.
1) Aqilante gave it four stars so it can’t be that great.
2) Whole swathes of it have made no impression whatsoever.
3) Still more syllabels than a Trouble And Bass band have BPMs
4) the song where he actually sings “heaven is whatever” is really good but I can’t remember its name.
5) OK, ten bucks so I’m not crying myself to sleep at night, but I wish I’d bought it slower. Gone four deep before ponying up the dough. Just so I’d have a better feel for it instead of where I am now which sis maybe twice all the way through and a skittish three others.
6) I am seriously considering the October 7th gig at the Beacon, a Thursday but the day before my birthday… I am too broke right now, but it is definitely on my mind…
7) I think all the other song references are getting old. I mean, cmon, Meatloaf??? Enough with that fucking quote already.
8) The concert buzz wore off.
9) I may change my mind about all of this.
10) Gonna walk around and drink some more
