Another week, another buncha concerts!!! And I got two doozy’s next week. Readers may remember Lana Mir, I reviewed her EP of smooth jazz torch songs a month ago and she keeps on popping onto my fave tracks, for “The Goodbye Girl”, “Unbreakable and her Stone Roses cover “I Wanna Be Loved”
Now I am eagerly waiting to discovery how it translates live when Lana plays Arlene Grocery on Wednesday May 10th. Essentially a must see.
Ike Reilly’s band Ike Reilly Assasination are playing Brooklyn Bowl next Thursday and I am going to a real real good place to catch a band, the Mercury Loungeon Friday May 7th. IRA (didn’t think we’d notice that?) are pushing their current and third album, November 2009’s Hard Luck Stories and though the word is punk I don’t hear punk at all.
In my days we called IRA pubrock, you might call it classic rock? Bar Bands? Whatever… catchy as hell rock songs by a tight little rock band. If that’s your deal, they’re a must hear. amazon.com have a free Ike reilly sampled mp3 which is pretty awesome as well.
Oh and by the way? The following week I get to see a full length Taylor Seift concert after her disappointint set closing out Jingle Ball last december
