Back at work from a week travelling and changing apartments, I had an email from former For Science, current Modern Hut, songwriter Joe Steinhardt.
Joe knows what a fan I am and if he had told me Chris Stern of Barracuda McMurder used to be For Science’s drummer it’d have been enough to keep me at Mercury Lounge for another set Saturday night.
Instead JOE DIDN’T TELL ME AND THEN RUBBED MY NOSE IN THIS EMAIL!!!!:
“I hate to tell you this, but after you left on Saturday, Barkkuda McMurder did TWO for science covers. I had no idea they would or I would have made you stay, haha. They did the first two songs on the Way Out of Control EP. Chris Pierce, who recorded all of our songs and played drums on Way Out of Control was on drums, and Chelsea who is the girl who sings backups on all the for science songs that have a girl singing in them sang with them too. I will try to see if anyone recorded it.”
That would be “Swan Song” and -OMG “SOLEDAD” and I am personally sick to the ends of my stomach that I missed it.
