Native Museums AT The Smithsonian by Helen Bach

If you’re planning a trip to Washington DC there is a potentially amazing exhibit being put together at the Smithsonian

“Up Where We Belong: Native Musicians in Popular Culture,” opens Thursday, July 1

It was just reported that memorabilia from Jimi Hendrix has arrived including his signature sweat stained coat (no lie that’s how its described), a leather necklace and a leather pouch. These are among the very few of the possessions sent home to his family from his apartment in New York after he died on Sept. 18, 1970

I have been unable to find more information on artists artifacts that will be displayed but I adore the concept. There is something rather surreal about seeing your idols possessions even behind glass.

It humanizes to say the least.
I hope to learn more- if I do, I’ll hip ya to.
