Taking Back Sunday’s Tell All Your Friends, as we all know, is a decade old.  Their TAYF10 tour was one for the history books, and I don’t think any of their fans’ hunger was satiated with a simple tour.  That being said, TBS realised that and is doing something that really excites me.

They will be digitally releasing TAYF acoustic.  The entire thing will be redone like new, stripped down and raw. They’re releasing it themselves on June 18th.  This is one of the best ideas the band has done.  They’re great acoustic and haven’t done anything like this before, so it will be a big step for them.

Additionally, they will be releasing a film on that same day.  I’m not entirely sure of the details, but from the trailer, it looks like there will be a lot of concert footage, and a lot of interviews.  A lot of bands have done something to this effect; Fall Out Boy released a little film pre-hiatus.  It’s a cute idea, and will make fans love them even more.  You can purchase a bundle of the acoustic album and film for $20–a pretty good deal for a cd and a movie.

I’m pretty sure I know part of the reason behind this, other than it being a great idea and a fun way to revive Tell All Your Friends even more.  Brand New’s album Deja Entendu just reached its decade anniversary.  Brand New and TBS have quite a long history of arguing and fights–the parallels of lyrics on TAYF and Your Favorite Weapon are insane; both are essentially “you suck” albums to the members of the other band.  Taking Back Sunday is riding on the popularity of their album to counter the fact that one of the bands they used to have problems with is also celebrating a similar feat.

Regardless, I’m very excited to hear the band’s best album acoustic; I like it so much I have it on vinyl.  I can’t imagine how it will sound without the intense drums and electric guitars.  It will definitely be something new.
