Being in a succesful rock band is like winning the lottery: it’s so difficult it might as well be pure luck. So when I hear that a band that has won the lottery chooses to tear uo that golden tix I may be excused for firmly believing they have lost their minds.
The Fratelli’s were a fair to middling UK band with one smash album and one uh-oh follow-up but still a very vuiable career in clubs and maybe even theatres and festivals.
Only they don’t. Lead singing Jon Lawler has anounced: “unlikely to record together again. “We have no plans to work together right now. Sometimes things just work out that way. Mince, Baz and I are working on music but not with each other for a while.”
Meanwhile Codeine Velvet Club, Lawler’s other band, is hardly doing very well.
