On his current tour Rufus has requested people don’t clap during the first half of the set. It says this on the website per contactmusic.com: “The first part of the program will be performed as a song cycle with visuals by Douglas Gordon. During the first set, Rufus has asked that you please do not applaud until after he has left the stage. His exit is part of the piece. After a brief intermission, Rufus will return for the second part of the show during which you may applaud to your heart’s content.”
Reminds me of when another egomaniac, Bruce Springsteen, ask audiences not to singalong during a solo tour fifteen years ago.
I saw that tour at the Beacon. It was stupified and he should have been well pleased if anybody did anything but snore.
And that’s the Boss.
Rufus should be careful of what he prays for.

Agreed. Just heard a cbc interviewer say thank you for taking this interview and he said OK? Like o aren’t you lucky to be interviewing me. What? Not a fan. Used to be a fan. Attitude kills any joy.
