I don’t think I’ve ever written about Will Smith -wait, maybe a “Men In Black” review, but Smith is about as great an actor as he is a rapper. Not particularly. Though he is a great star and that counts for something though it doesn’t excuse the dreadful Muhammad Ali biopic where Smith doesn’t have an ounce of Ali’s charisma. None of it.

But I’m hardly shocked, his arrogant smartypants of Prince Of Bel Air is shallow by definition and the “soft like Microsoft” man is always a straw man.

None of this matters, really, I mean he is just an actor. But the recent drama with his son Jaden Smith, who wants to be emancipated at the age of 15, was pretty ridiculous stuff and Will being cool with it was bizarre.

Still it was little compared to Smith’s breathtaking hypocrisy when discussing Jaden’s career with UK tabloid the Sun: “‘I think that the major risk of this particular business is strictly emotional. The business has almost a narcotic quality. It’s almost as if you’re introducing a narcotic into your kid’s life.”

Then to Vulture.com: ”It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business, but that is absolutely insane. I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that’s going be everywhere in the world. He is making a choice from the informed. It’s less scary to me than if he wanted to be a dentist in that I couldn’t help with what he’d chosen.’I have relationships with some of the biggest filmmakers and actors and producers on Earth. So I can be a huge help.”

This is such rubbish. If Will doesn’t consider being a dentist a narcotic well then what the hell is he talking about. Children NEED ADULTS. They need to have childhoods and working in major movies when you should be at school isn’t going to cut it at all. You raise teenage twerps who say stuff like this about working with his father: “You know, how Johnny Depp and Tim Burton always do movies together, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio? We’ll have a relationship like that.”

Sure they will.

Will Smith is as shallow as a ditch and his parenting skills are none existent.
