I can be shallow if I want too and I am. Ive earned the right in my rants to be shallow now and then so here goes.
Tonight stretched out across a chair dying over Fergies shoes on the cover of Rolling Stone (seriously I’d kill myself AND you for them) I begin my cursory flip through in reverse of some dumbass article on 40 reasons to buy this rag (for the record this subscription was an anonymous gift. No one I know will fess up that they sent it but it began as I began writing here..hmm )
Anyway so what to my wandering eyes should appear but one bad ass hot dude with tattoos to spare.. yeah lame so what
But it forces me to hoist myself up to check out this beasts band.
Gaslight Anthem from good Ol New Brunswick NJ. Lord have mercy….I google rocknyc, we got jack on them.. SHAME on us.. k here goes.
“Great Expectations” from 2008s lp ’59 Sound, and then it hits me. Ive heard them. This song is intense now. This was on a mixed disc sent to me. Whoa. Usually arriving in a plain envelope with no artist or track list. So OK now I have chills and I’m feeling that sorta swoony feeling you get when your smacked with realization. Beautiful.
Digging deeper to the title track I’m in love. IMAN listen! What the hell New Jersey!? Can you possibly crank out more cool?
I gotta say the singer (who BTW is the fucking stone cold freakin sex bomb FOX that made me actually go find these guys IS the singer…….boom chaka laka in- deed- ee doo) gets kind Springsteeny sometime but know what SO FUCKING WHAT. I love this band! Oh my God you should love them too.
YAY! new release in June that’s like 2 months away which means I have to totally get up to speed on these guys then I have to stalk them to tour then I got.. well there is so much to be done when you stumble upon a new band to love isn’t there?
