Remember Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince where Harry is in a coffee shop in London and there is this terrific looking waitress who asks him “Who is Harry Potter anyway?” after she see his name on the front page of the Wizard newspaper and he says “Oh, just some tosser” and and she says “Well tell that tosser Harry Potter if he wants to see me I get off at eleven and then Dumbledore shows up and that’s the end of that?
Well, she is an English actress and model named Elarica Gallacher and she is still gorgeous and she is playing Marvin Gayes wife (second wife is my bet, she sure ain’t Berry Gordy’s sister) in the Marvin Gaye movie waiting in the wings.
This would be the Julien Temple attempt to bring the story of the deeply troubled Motown soul man, apparently it is about the recording of his hugely successful last album, Midnight Love. Which is actually a great idea because God knows a filmed bio just about crippled Cameron Crowe’s career.
Temple is not a terrible choice. Julien began his career with the Pistols, directing “The Great Rock N Roll Swindle” and the early UK rock and roll saga starring David Bowie and Sade. He also directed what many people (muyself included) consider the best movie ever made about Joe Strummer by a long shot”The Future Is Unwritten”.
