Former Bounce drummer Larry Lachman has front row seats. Me? I have last row seats. But we are both seeing Tom Petty at the Beacon Theater. Last Thursday in Evansville was opening night and so i took a study of the setlist. Meh. Lots of Full Moon Fever but so much other stuff is missing, No “Listen To her Heart” for one. And absolutely no “Don’t Do Me Like That”. Still, there i’ll be in the nosebleeds on Thursday evening – ok? alright…

Monday – Portugal The Man – Irving Plaza – Like a populist Flaming Lips, Alyson liked them live

Tuesday – Paul Anka – Weschester County CenterĀ – Why Anka won’t play nyc is beyond me. if I had a car and I could drive I’d drive their in a heart beat.

Wednesday – Ellen Foley – The Iridium – Clash girlfriend, Meatloaf foil and a damned good singer

Friday – Alkaline Trio – best Buy – Excellent Punk rockers coming off the excellent My Shame Is True album, they may never be this good again.

Saturday – DFA Records 12th Anniversary Party – Grad Prospect Hall – Keep an ear out for Holy Ghost! Shit Robot and the rapture. Three floors, all DFA, James Murphy is also DJing.

Sunday – The Shirelees – The Shirelles?? Well, looks like one original Shirelles and a coupla ringers. Shirley Owens left in 1975 and Doris Coley died in 2000. but, hey, Beverly Lee is gonna be there. Expect non stop hits. Demand “Mama Told Me”.
