Sir Cliff’s Love Letter???

I swear this is true: a close friend of mine knew Sir Cliff Richard and his boyfriend in the early seventies. This is the absolute truth. And the last time I said something similar it was about Ricky Martin told to me by a friend who who worked with Martin in les Miz.
But apparently this wasn’t always the case because, per contactmusic.com, following the death of Delia Wicks April 8th, her estate released a break up letter from Richard to Wicks dated 1961.
I post it here because it is a fadcinating look into what it takes to maintain stadom on the level of a Sir Cliff.
“I’ve just had to make, probably, one of the biggest decisions I’m ever going to make and I’m hoping it won’t hurt you too much Dellia .Being a singer I’m going to have to give up many things in life. But being a pop singer I have to give up one very priceless thing – the right to have any lasting relationship with any special girl. I couldn’t give up my career.”
