So like what the hell is a blog anyway. A friend of mine had to explain it. I thought it was pretty fucking lame really like an online diary?
Dear Diary- today I made toast.. who gives a crap. So, when Nevin suggested I write a review of the Weezer Blink 182 show I figured.. well OK I guess. That’s fun. I literally go to hundreds of shows. professional and not but I’m insanely addicted to music in all forms. I also generally like to write. I have to say there are times I hate it though, especially at crunch time, but Iman sets a high bar of expectation and hes not afraid to call and yell at me if need be, biggest shock.. his accent. Yeah hes got one, oh and the pronunciation of his name.. cuz it ain’t EYEman. Which is what I called the poor guy until he finally said his name to me. You really should consider spelling it another way its just confusing.
Anyway I wrote about the mighty Weez an that was the banana peel that slide me to this point. Jockeying my blackberry like a freaking idiot trying to keep interviews and shows in order and on time while running a home and having a regular Joe job. Gets tough sometime but I don’t complain
rocknyc has given me some pretty cool experiences from talking to Art Alexakis of Everclear, and falling in love with Shinobi Ninja (who I STILL have not seen live!) hanging out on Mayday Parades bus to being called a douche. Yeah, I read that shit and its actually hurts my feelings. I mean I realize not everyone has to like me, you can hate me all you want at least I’m entertaining but name calling? meh.. With Imans help Ive learned to weather it a bit more tactfully (although he does get my rants and I am certain he laughs his ass off at me once hes calmed me down) There’s is more good than bad.
As an avid concert goer I now feel more connected to the shows I see. No longer a voyeur I’m paying closer attention (knowing I have to write about it) and in that process I have come to appreciate music I generally would not have endured.
Behind the scenes the boys trade songs online like baseball cards on the playground. To this day I dont know how its done, I say.. um go listen to this and type out the name and artist. Hell these guys email me the song. Thanks! We take turns on stuff. We enhance each other and we challange each other all the time.
I appreciate the works of Marie Lynn, and Louba and Alyson as women in this pig pen hovel its best we stick together before the beer cans hit the ceiling. I hope to see more from you all and have enjoyed all of your works.
And my kid? Ive always been amazed by her spirit. Entranced by her strength and envious of her poise and self control. Now Im proud of her contributions here and her abilty to use her work with rocknyc to secure a music review column in her school paper, where before there was none. Shes my pink haired pioneer.
Thank you all. Happy Anniversary and be nice for fucks sake.
