When last seen in a full length concert, Beyonce was at Roseland performing her magnificent album 4 just after a greatest hits package. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great and if you look at the Live At Roseland video, and not just my frustrated review (where I couldn't see a damn thing for two hours), the magic sheen that was 4 had tarnished fast.
Since then she has become another draggy diva, strutting her insane ego for Obama, the NFL, her husband and a crazed for her population.
But no tour behind 4, her pregnancy obviously slowing things down for a year. And now, without a new album (which I thinkw e were all expected, she is touring Europe and gearing up her summer tour. i will be checking her out in August at Barclay's center. And a study of her setlist finds precisely ONE Destiny's Child song, as well as half (seven) off 4, 4 off I Am… Sasha Fierce, 3 off Dangerously In Love, 5 off B-Day, and a Whitney Houston cover.
As might be expected, a handful of classics(the "1+1" followed by "Irreplaceable" is money in the bank) and a whole lotta strutting. It starts off a little slow (she might wanna rejigger before she hits the US) :
