Avril Lavigne's "Here's To Never Growing Up" Reviewed

Good God someone pull the plug on Avril please.

Avril Lavigne released a new some called “Here’s To Never Growing Up” and let’s just start off with this: I am sick of the “we’re young and whatever” anthems because they’re so friggin’ stupid it hurts.  No, you’re not still young.  Shut up, you’re growing up.  Plus, she’s gotten way older (older than Adele- WHAAAT) and should let it sink in that she’s no longer a teen and can’t get away with stuff like this.  I mean c’mon she once said “I’m the female Sid Vicious”… anyone else see anything wrong here?

The song is atrocious.  It starts off with the line “singin’ Radiohead at the top of our lungs.”  What I’ve never really understood is referencing another band in your song… it makes no sense.  Also, she just sounds like a crappy version of some Disney pop star who’s now in some scandalous movie yet still annoys the hell out of everyone.  Nothing about it is fun or catchy- it’s just annoying.  It feels like she tried way too hard and completely failed.  There’s not a single redeeming quality.

Whoever took Avril’s voice and changed it into the epitome of everything I hate, that’s kind of unfortunate because I used to really like her as a kid.  She was a super cool punk chick who was known for being hardcore and the opposite of mainstream.  That’s totally changed.  She’s also pronouncing her words really weird and the melody is boring and the instruments are lame and over-produced.  The droning and monotonous verses don’t vary at all and it’s excruciating to listen to.

This is the worst thing Avril has ever done.  Maybe she shouldn’t have tried to make a comeback, because it certainly didn’t make me a fan again.
