Speaking of must see concerts, Robbie Williams might not be big enough Stateside to matter much one way or the other, but in the UK and Canada this is gonna be as big as Timberlake. It will be huge. The last crooner with the weirdest of the boy band singers joined up to sing swing standards? Woooah.
And it looks like we are gonna get it at some point.
Michael Buble told the Daily Star ""I got to know Robbie through (the U.K. version of) The X Factor and I love him. The song is for his new swing album and it's so good. We had too much fun making it. Robbie has probably been more open than I have with certain things. I'm pretty open but he's bared his demons. I have the same demons, so we talk about all the things I think about as I don't have other people to talk to them about. It's pretty awesome."
Buble has demons? Hand it to his handlers, right? Compared to the slash and burn rehab bounded Robbie, indeed compared to most people, Buble is the poster boy for coming to terms with superstardom.
Both of these guys are really good live. I saw Buble at a Jingle Ball and Robbie a couple of times, and they know how to work an audience and they know how to work their MOR influences and come out with something "the kids" will love. On the same stage, these guys will play very well off each other. Buble is sincere, Robbie plays sincerity like a roulette wheel. And they both seem to walk a line between old and new, hip and straight aced. I guess I mean they crossover.
Will they play the States? Buble will and with a sequel to his Swing When You're Winning album, maybe Robbie will.
