Panic at the Disco? Who?
No, I have to tell you about The Young Veins.
Watch out for that conversation coming up soon. I had the pleasure tonight of seeing The Young Veins–half of Panic, with three more members thrown in there. Sure, Ryan Ross has a pretty face, but does he have what it takes? And can Jon Walker keep up with Ross? Yes and yes. Only hearing a few songs, and reviewing them earlier, I wasn’t really looking forward to it. But I completely, one hundred percent, take back what I said about them not being great. They’re more than great.
Sure, a bit of ego issues, but they’re just going from playing huge stadiums to playing small clubs. I thought it was a huge mistake for them to break up, but now they can evolve.
Live compared to what’s on their Myspace is nothing alike. By far better live, and they put on a phenomenal show, Ross and Walker.
The bassist might’ve been dreary, swaying, eyelid-fluttering, and being “entranced” in the music, but he was, in a word, incredible. He definitely made the band, as a whole, so much better.
Throw in a talented keyboardist and a mind-blowingly good drummer and you have The Young Veins.
So…who’s Panic at the Disco again?
