Titus Andronicus Should Play The 2014 Superbowl Half Time Show At Metlife

Louba Lababedi thinks Bon Jovi deserves the honor (and career bounce!) of playing the Superbowl Half Time Show at Metlife February 2014, and while I don't necessarily disagree 100%, I( mean who else is big enough? Springsteen has already done it) if the NFL had any guts, any brains, or gave a damn about entertainment, they would hand the 20 minutes to Titus Andronicus and remind the world what America is really all about.

Titus Andronicus are not simply from New Jersey, or the greatest rock and roll band in the world since 2010, but they are independent minded Americans, who called their last album Local Business to pledge allegiance with the DIY aesthetics of not just rock bands and labels but of working class men and women running their own businesses and their own lives.

Neither Bruce nor Bon have anything so do with the way New Jersey people live. They just got hammered by a recession followed by a Hurricane, New Jersey folks live hand to mouth. What's that got to do with the world Bruce inhabits? Palling with Presidents and riding his horses on farmland a third of the size off Central Park. Patrick Stickles, Titus lead singer, was living with his Mim in NJ last thing I heard.

I dunno if Bruce is a nice guy or an asshole but I don't see how you can be that rich and famous and not be an asshole of a type. Patrick is a nice guy and he knows the NJ scene fine and he could bring along all his friends and they could jam out to "A More Perfect Union" and the entire world be reminded of the greatness of the USA and not because we are the most powerful but because we are the most free.

I can't think of a better lesson to teach our children, a better reminder as to why rock and roll matters more than life itself than to represent to the world the joy of being free and roaring our freedom, embracing our freedom, where the battle on the field and the battle on the streets come together in play.

Yeah, if the NFL wanna be great Americans they should be Patrick Stickles band to play.

Hahaha, I think I got carried away with that daydream…
