Bands do not need fancy recording studios anymore, or it seems that way. This video shows how the pop rock LA band, The 88, has recorded one of their song ‘Love is the Thing’, a 70’s Beatles-sounding-catchy-upbeat tune, on an iPhone using the 4-track application, in what looks like their living-room.
You see them recording track by track, acoustic guitar, drums, bass, electric guitar, piano, vocals,… then the song magically come up alive.
They may have some kind of deal with Apple products since I have seen them perform in an Apple store once, and the making of the song has all the qualities of a product placement.
The band is pretty much in the loop these days, as their music has been featured on many television shows (How I Met Your Mother, Grey’s Anatomy, Weeds, Gossip Girl and Community) and many campaigns for Sears, Target, NASCAR, and NFL.
Their new album simply titled ‘The 88’ will be available on September 14th, for two weeks exclusively on iTunes of course! And elsewhere on September 28th.
