New Music Week of March 21st, 2011: What Happened Here?

Let's Kill Tonight – Panic! At The Disco – What happened here? After a killer song last year, the new album is pretty naff. This is plainly awful over orchestrated palaver.

I Remember Me – Jennifer Hudson – I can hear her voice to a point but she's no Faith Evans. And I can't remember this song even when I'm listening to it.

Heaven's Gonna Happen Now – The Pains Of Being Pure At heart – Same old Pures, pretty enough and a touch spunkier playing than before.

Sad Song – The Cars – Geez, still that same old bass riff.

I'd Love To Be Your Last – Gretchen Wilson – Beautiful country ballad without the country and the soft muzak like orchestration of the carpenters. A gem. TRACK OF THE WEEK.

Are You Ready? – Richard Ashcroft – Brian Jones to Cocker's Mick Jagger

Hold On Tight – Solomon Burke – the late great up to nothing much.

Next 2 you (feat Justin Bieber) – Chris Brown – Pretty and useless at the same time.

J.A.R. – Green Day – Crap live version, Billie Joe's scream after the fuirst verse through is the lowest point of his career.

Longing To Belong – Eddie Vedder – Eddie's voice doesn't mix with his ukulele. You'd thought somebody might have bothered to tell him this before he recorded a fucking album worth of these suckers.

Will Do – TV On The Radio – There is much better waiting. Possibly the most ordinary song they've ever written.

Paper Airplane – Alison Krauss and Union Square – Like watching a leaf floating to the ground. Only even more boring.

Fuck Him, He's A DJ – Ke$ha – Ok, I am now officially sick of this woman.

Trick Or Treat – Gucci Mane – His third album in two years. Gucci better work on quality control.

No Sleep – Wiz Khalifa – Not bad… good rhyme, good rhythm.

Best Love Song (feat Chris Brown) – T. Pain – Love this guy, another killer track and the ONLY MAN ON EARTH autotune works for (it works for Rebecca White as well)

Taken For A Fool – The Strokes – The middle sucks but the verses kill. In other words they didn't finish it.
